Chinta Café

Hidden in the suburbs of North Perth, Chinta Cafe has garnered a reputation for its tropical garden interior and exterior that mimics being on vacation on a faraway island. Offering up an all-day menu of Indonesian-inspired dishes, Chinta has a retail section inside their garage that sells an eclectic mix of homewares, fashion and books, making it the place to visit if you want a side of retail therapy with your coffee.

the plants looking like a garden inside Bar Botanik

Bar Botanik

Although missing an outdoor garden, Bar Botanik more than makes up for it with their indoor décor of hanging plants, lush potted foliage and plant-centric homewares. The owners are rare plant collectors, and feature a display of their collection in the shop for visitors. They make a point of sourcing rare plants for sale whenever possible, such as Philodendron Martianum and Monstera Stadleyana, both of which are currently in stock. Located a stone’s throw away from Hyde Park, finding dogs and other pets in the shop is a common occurrence and they openly welcome owners and their furry friends in the store. If you’re a real plant lover, you’ll be pleased to know that you can hire out space in Bar Botanik to host your own workshops or photoshoots. Bar Botanik also hosts community events such as plant swaps and plant-based food events.

Stomp Coffee

Stomp Coffee is the perfect café to visit if you’re after a peaceful day resting beneath the leafy canopy of a courtyard garden that’s frequently visited by dogs and their owners. Maintaining the quality and integrity of good coffee is of paramount importance to this café and as such they are committed to sourcing coffee through direct trade relationships with coffee growers, cutting away the middleman and providing better opportunities to smaller producers. Apart from the relaxed ambience of the garden, Stomp offers visitors a real sense of community from their welcoming stance on pets through to the community events they hold in the garden such as ‘Sunday Jazz at Stomp’. Check their Facebook page for upcoming events.

Café Poste

Nestled in the courtyard of Old Guildford’s Post Office grounds is a unique little French-themed café that doubles as a nursery, landscaping design centre and antique shop. Café Poste is connected with landscaping business Hort Plan so naturally, the garden design has been well thought out and is carefully constructed. Notable for the numerous hanging plants and foliage, customers can expect a tranquil haven offering French-themed breakfast and brunch foods such as almond croissants, macarons and house-made pastries served in the courtyard of one of Guildford’s iconic repurposed landmark buildings.

Mon – Sun: 8.00am to 4.00pm

Café Mojo Mundaring

Another one set in an old, refurbished building located outside of the city, Café Mojo is a nature-lovers heaven set in the Perth Hills. Visitors seeking a unique garden experience will find a colony of Bandicoots that have made a home in the nearby bushes. The garden space regularly hosts community events which are updated on their Facebook page. Upcoming events include knitting clubs, ukulele clubs, mums and bubs events and, interestingly, a repair club where people can bring broken items to get fixed. The menu at Mojo’s is designed to be accommodating of all dietary requirements and changes by the season.

The Secret Garden Cafe

This family-owned and run cafe has remained a hot spot of South Perth since opening way back in 2008, so they must be doing something right. Although a relatively small cafe inside, the real creme de le creme, as the name suggests, is in the (not-so) secret garden out back; think cobble-stone, a tiny pond with a matching tiny wooden bridge and of course, greenery as far as the eye can see. The space is used primarily as a cafe (serving all-day breakfast might I add), but can also be hired out for weddings, birthdays and high teas for those looking for a more low-fi, outdoor function venue.

Mon – Sun: 7.30am to 4.30pm
64 Angelo St, South Perth
